Terrance Lynn, MD, won the prestigious Stowell-Orbison Award for his abstract, poster and presentation of his work titled “TRPS1 is a Highly Sensitive and Specific Marker for Diagnosing Triple-negative Breast Carcinomas on Cytologic Samples.” This award is for trainees who are residents or fellows in pathology. Geisinger's Cytopathology Fellowship is a one-year program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. It provides in-depth training in diagnostic cytopathology while offering a unique multidisciplinary, subspecialty clinic environment that values and strongly supports the practice of cytopathology. The cytology laboratory is state of the art, with automated technology for specimen processing and review.
In addition, Sara Monaco, MD, system director of cytopathology and program director for the Cytopathology Fellowship, was recently awarded the 2021 President’s Award from the American Society of Cytopathology. The award was established in 1992 and is presented annually to a pathologist and/or cytotechnologist in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the society.
