Downtown Danville Shoppers Shuttle completes pilot program
Program to pause at end of April
At the end of April, the Shoppers’ Shuttle will pause operations to review the outcomes and explore improvements for the benefit of the community and its businesses. The pilot program was originally set to run through the end of 2022 but was extended to complete a year of operation.
The shuttle provided free transportation for area residents and visitors. It traveled to local shops, restaurants, grocery stores and health care facilities in Danville Borough and Mahoning Township.
The pilot program met and, in most months, exceeded its goal of an average of 120 riders a month. As intended from the outset, the shuttle project will pause to review its findings and explore opportunities to sustain the program in a new form.
