Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital on Newsweek’s 2023 Best Maternity Hospitals list
DANVILLE, Pa. – Two Geisinger hospitals have received designation on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2023. Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital each received the award that was presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., a statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The list of winners was announced May 10 and is available on Newsweek’s website.
“Our maternity teams continue to deliver the highest quality of care every day, and these awards are a testament to our dedicated staff of physicians and caregivers who continue to make better health easier for families in central Pennsylvania,” said Sandra Culbertson, M.D., chair of the Geisinger Women & Children’s Institute. “I am very proud of our maternity teams’ recognition for the excellent care they provide.”
Three data sources were used for the evaluation:
· Nationwide online survey: Health care professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes (e.g., neonatal and perinatal doctors, nurses and midwives) were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the U.S.
· Medical KPIs on hospitals with a focus on indicators relevant to maternity care
· Results from patient surveys
Newsweek and Statista invited more than 10,000 medical professionals to participate in the survey. Nationwide, 384 winners were recognized on the Best Maternity Hospitals 2023 list.
