Local teens: Get free, expert advice on becoming a doctor
Geisinger medical students, faculty to share insights at community event
Participants will hear from the Geisinger Commonwealth Pathway Programs team and current medical students about how to prepare now for a future in medicine.
Topics include:
● Choosing the right high school and college courses
● Understanding the medical school timeline
● Building the skills every future doctor needs
● Extracurriculars, volunteering and shadowing opportunities
● How to stand out as a medical school applicant
“This is a unique opportunity for high school students to see what their journey to becoming a physician could look like,” said Maureen Murtha, executive director of Pathway Programs. “By hearing directly from our medical students and faculty, they’ll gain valuable insight into the steps they can take today to prepare for success.”
Students and families will also have the chance to ask questions and connect with medical students who are navigating the path to becoming physicians.
