Geisinger Commonwealth Summer Research Immersion Program Symposium 2025

Tuesday, July 29

Please join us for the Summer Research Immersion Program (SRIP) Symposium on Tuesday, July 29, 2025!

The annual Summer Research Immersion Program (SRIP) offers research opportunities to students between the first and second years of the MD curriculum. Over eight weeks, students work alone or in pairs on a wide variety of projects under a mentor’s guidance. Projects are presented at a Summer Research Symposium. This year, more than 100 students from the Class of 2028 will present at two poster sessions at Geisinger School of Medicine’s Medical Sciences Building.

The symposium will begin with a keynote talk by Alexander Chang, MD, MS. Dr. Chang is a physician-scientist, practicing nephrologist and associate professor of Clinical Research at Geisinger. His research is devoted to preventing and decreasing the burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and related cardiometabolic complications. His research has influenced national and international clinical guidelines, gene-disease validity classification by ClinGen and National Committee for Quality Assurance-recommended measures for health plans.

Dr. Chang is the recipient of Geisinger’s 2024 Henry Hood Award for Clinical and Research Excellence. Read more about Dr. Chang here!

Following the keynote and announcement of top SRIP abstract awards, two sessions will feature academic posters prepared by the participants of the 2025 Summer Research Immersion Program. The day will conclude with a reception for participants, mentors, and the incoming MD Class of 2029.

Medical Sciences Building Parking Lot B will be open for parking.
